Ode from my Dog

By: I’m gonna’ say “Woody,” my corgi companion…

I just love you.

I love to sleep in with you,

I love to lay spread before your feet…

I love rolling over and the way you mindlessly stroke my belly…

The way you whisper sweet nothings and tell me how wonderful I am…

What a way to wake up to the day…

You ask me if I want to go out…

You take me out and chase tail a bit…

No one takes care of me like you do…

If it weren’t for you, I’d be trapped inside with me, myself, and I…

Oh, and these other lunatics, they keep in here, too…

And late, late at night…

When all the world’s fast asleep and the house lies settling from the hum of the day now dispersed…

You gather me in your arms, nuzzle my neck, and declare how there is no greater love in your life…

And I shift around, comfortably smack my gums good night, and fall asleep, folded in a love so pure, the Heavens must delight.
